Types of Common Steel Structures
Beam structure. Beams are often used in roofs and floors of houses and workshops, bridges and bridge cranes. Generally, the grillage can be arranged in parallel or in pairs according to the primary and secondary beams.
Truss structure. Steel roof truss structure is composed of plane truss. The truss is only subjected to node load, and the members are basically subjected to axial tension and pressure. The material can be fully utilized. Steel space truss belongs to space truss and has been widely used in recent years.
Frame structure. Frames are mostly used in single-storey factory buildings and large-span building structures, and are also often used as load-bearing skeletons of multi-storey and high-rise buildings. Lateral bracing system, tie bar and purlin should be set up in plane frame to ensure its stability and stiffness. The stiffness of rigid frames with rigid connections between beams and columns can be significantly improved.
Arch structure. The load-bearing skeleton of large-span buildings is usually composed of parallel solid-web or lattice arch and support systems, tie bars and purlins. Arch can be made into hingeless arch, two-hinged arch and three-hinged arch. The arch section generally bears a larger axial pressure, while the bending moment and shear force are smaller.
Cable structure. Most of them are used for bridges and long-span roof structures. It belongs to an axially tensioned member without stiffness. The material is fully utilized and the mechanical performance is good.
